이길래는 자연의 순환성과 생명성을 탐구하는 작업을 이어오고 있다. 그는 나무와 돌, 살아있는 것과 죽은 것의 경계를 물질의 관점에서 재해석하며, 생명에 대한 인식의 전환을 제안한다. 작가는 동 파이프를 잘게 절단한 타원형 링을 하나하나 용접해 소나무를 형상화하는 조각 작업으로 널리 알려져 있다. 금속이라는 무기질 재료를 통해 유기적 생명체인 소나무를 재현함으로써, 물성과 생명성의 역설을 시각화한다. 그의 작업은 형태를 구현하는 지난한 노동과 조형의 정밀함 속에서 생명의 기운을 불어넣는다. 반복적이고 분방한 선의 흐름은 자연의 생동과 내면의 에너지를 시각적으로 구현하며, 생과 사를 순환의 일부로 바라보는 작가의 태도를 고스란히 드러낸다.
Lee Gil-rae has consistently created works that explore the cyclical nature and vitality of the natural world. He reinterprets the boundaries between wood and stone, life and death, from a material perspective, proposing a shift in how we perceive life itself. The artist is widely recognized for his sculptural works in which he shapes pine trees by welding together numerous elliptical rings made from finely cut copper pipes. By recreating an organic life form—the pine tree—using an inorganic material like metal, he visualizes the paradox between materiality and vitality. His works breathe life through the meticulous labor and precision required to manifest form. The repetitive and uninhibited flow of lines visually conveys the dynamism of nature and inner energy, revealing the artist’s view of life and death as integral parts of a continuous cycle.
イ・ギルレは、自然の循環性と生命性を探求する作品を制作し続けてきた。彼はは木と石、生と死の境界を物質的な視点から再解釈し、生命に対する認識の転換を提案している。作家は、銅パイプを細かく切断した楕円形のリングを一つ一つ溶接し、松の木を形象化する彫刻作品で広く知られている。無機質な素材である金属を通じて有機的な生命体である松を再現することで、物質性と生命性の逆説を視覚化している。彼の作品は、形を具現化する緻密な労働と造形の正確さの中で生命の息吹を吹き込む。繰り返される自由で奔放な線の流れは、自然の躍動と内面のエネルギーを視覚的に表現し、生と死を循環の一部として捉える作家の姿勢をあらわにする。
